Multidisciplinary treatment for various types of cancer
Holonics Group, including Iseikai International General Hospital, operates a cancer treatment clinic that provides multidisciplinary treatment for various types of cancer.
Our Clinic’s Concept of Multidisciplinary Cancer Treatment
At present, a perfect cure for cancer has not yet been established.
Therefore...
We believe that the ideal cancer treatment is one that combines minimally invasive procedures with effective therapies in a multidisciplinary approach—tailored (“custom-made”) to each patient’s condition and based on their informed decisions.
What is Multidisciplinary Treatment?
Multidisciplinary treatment is a therapeutic approach that combines multiple treatment methods such as surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
In many hospitals in Japan, a "vertical organizational structure" still prevails, which often limits the opportunities for a single patient to receive various treatment options. However, depending on the type and stage of cancer, surgical treatment may be suitable in some cases, while in others, internal medicine-based treatment may be more appropriate. In fact, many cases require a selection from multiple treatment methods across different specialties, but under vertically divided systems, the patient’s options are significantly restricted.
Furthermore, there are cases where both surgical and non-surgical (medical) treatments are necessary, or vice versa. Therefore, it is critical for experts from multiple disciplines to collaborate beyond organizational boundaries to formulate the best treatment strategy. This integrated treatment approach is what we call multidisciplinary treatment or multidisciplinary therapy.
Receiving informed consent from the patient is also extremely important in carrying out such multidisciplinary treatment.
At the Holonics Group (Iseikai Medical Group), we have developed a unified strategy and comprehensive system to fight cancer, and "immune cell therapy" is one of the core methods we offer.
